FAQs

How do my results reach the leaderboard?

Automatic sync (“Verified”), using GPS device, through PWR Lab Training App. Current GPS watches supported are GARMIN, SUUNTO, COROS, and POLAR.

Apple Watch integration coming soon.

If you must, there is a work around for the short term. Apple Watch is not currently compatible, but PWR Lab is hard at work getting it integrated. In the meantime, it is possible to sign-up for Run Gap, and send your Apple Watch data –> Run Gap –> Garmin Connect –> PWR Lab. This process is not for the faint of heart!

Do I need a watch to participate?

You do not need a watch to fully participate. You can run or hike without a watch and will be given credit for participation on a separate page from those that are being verified and on the official leaderboard. The problem during COVID-19 and the rise of Virtual racing created an environment for cheaters. We are not calling anyone cheaters. This is just a fact of competition.

How do automatic/verified activity results get generated?

Must start & end at the official locations (don’t start early or drive away without stopping your watch)

  1. Have GPS lock at the start and end of race to ensure coordinates are captures

  2. Watch must be one continuous activity, and must be started at start location and ended at end location

  3. Segments have an official distance and elevation: these will be awarded for valid attempts, the time will be taken from the watch or manual upload

Where does my data go?

The specifics are included below, and you can always reference PWR Lab’s privacy policy & terms of use

  1. When signing up for PWR Lab, you can authorize a connection between another running data service (eg Garmin Connect) and PWR Lab.

  2. This allows that service to send them activities that you have recorded on your watch/phone and then uploaded. PWR Lab does not actually connect to your watch or track you: your activities are simply pushed through your Garmin Connect, Suunto, Polar, etc. account to the platform.

  3. This authorization remains intact until you choose to disable it. Your account is not actually deleted at the end of a free trial, just locked. Thus it can continue to send your results to the race leaderboard.

  4. You can disable the link between PWR Lab and your connected services at any time.

  5. After connecting your service to PWR Lab, a green link/unlink icon will be displayed on your Profile page. To unlink your account at any time, navigate to the Profile page, scroll to the bottom, and select “unlink”.

  6. You can access the Profile page and do this at any time, even if your free trial has expired.
